Seiler Theo (Zürich)

In October 2002 Dr. Seiler founded the "Institute for Refractive and Ophthalmo Surgery" (IROC) in Zurich. His main fields of work and research include corneal surgery, especially refractive corneal surgery, surgery of the anterior eye segments and physiological optics.

Seiler is a member of the German Ophthalmological Society (DOG), the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the Swiss Ophthalmological Society (SOG), the American Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery (ASCRS), the European Cornea Society (EuCornea), the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) and the boards of DOG, ISRS and EuCornea.

Within ten years, IROC has grown from the original 5 people to a team of 25. In 2005, IROC moved to larger premises at Stockerstrasse 37 in Zurich. Since the beginning of 2009, IROC also operates an external operating room at Bärengasse near Paradeplatz.

Due to many years of practical experience in ophthalmic surgery, as well as intensive research activities, IROC is known nationally as well as internationally as a highly qualified and state-of-the-art eye center. This is confirmed, among other things, by the ISO 9001 certification.

IROC can not only report several hundred operations per year in all fields (laser and eyelid surgery, cataract surgery, etc.), but also a stable order situation of the research and development department with five engineers. They carry out clinical contract research and application development and, together with the IROC doctors, work intensively on the further development of the IROC invention for the treatment of keratoconus, crosslinking (UV crosslinking of the cornea).
