Reinhard Rüesch, MD, completed his medical studies at the University of Zurich, graduating in 1984. Reinhard Rüesch then underwent general medical training as an assistant physician at the St. Gallen Children's Hospital, the Herisau Regional Hospital, the Flawil Hospital and, from January 1, 1990, at the Eye Clinic of the St. Gallen Cantonal Hospital. In 1990 he received the FMH title for general medicine, then after ophthalmological training the FMH title for ophthalmology in 1993 and specifically for ophthalmic surgery in 2001. One focus of Reinhard Rüesch's work is the care of patients with inflammatory eye diseases. He is also involved in the education of students. Since 1997 Reinhard Rüesch has been a lecturer at the University of Zurich. In the same year he was promoted to Head Physician and Deputy Chief Physician of the Eye Clinic of the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen. In 2008 Reinhard Rüesch received the title of Clinical Lecturer from the University of Zurich, with this academic degree the University of Zurich aims to specifically promote teaching.
